Bi Sheng, secretary-general of the Titanium Dioxide Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, said that there are currently 42 full-process enterprises with normal production conditions in China, including 2 pure chlorination enterprises, 3 enterprises with chlorination process and sulfuric acid process (Longbai Group, Lubei Chemical Industry and Panzhihua Vanadium and Titanium), and the remaining 37 enterprises are sulfuric acid process. In 2023, there were 16 titanium dioxide enterprises with actual output of 100000 tons or more, an increase of 5 over the previous year. In 2023, the total effective production capacity of 42 titanium dioxide enterprises in the industry was 5.2 million tons/year, and the comprehensive production exceeded 4 million tons to 4.16 million tons, an increase of 250000 tons or 6.3 percent over the previous year.

Bi Sheng pointed out that what makes the titanium dioxide industry more concerned is that in recent years, with the rise of the new energy battery material industry, a large number of iron phosphate or lithium iron phosphate projects are under construction or planning inside and outside the industry, most of which start from the iron source. In addition to other ways, the most convenient and economical way to iron source is ferrous sulfate, which is the main by-product in the production of titanium dioxide by sulfuric acid method. In this way, ferrous sulfate also from sulfuric acid titanium dioxide enterprises once the heavy burden has become a "sweet cake". In this context, there are a large number of new energy projects in various places on the horse or brewing, thus subverting the previous cognition, the emergence of the main production of ferrous sulfate and by-product titanium dioxide industry chain. However, with the recent great changes in the situation of the new energy materials industry, it also has a great impact on the planning or implementation progress of such projects, the cooling atmosphere is obvious, some are difficult to ride a tiger, and some cancel the project plan. Nevertheless, some of the production capacity of the projects that have been launched can be realized. In the next 1-2 years, even if only some of these projects or plans can be realized, the total production capacity of titanium dioxide will rise further.

Bi Sheng stressed that the expansion of production capacity for the titanium dioxide market also poses a challenge, the domestic market will show a situation of oversupply, relying on domestic demand to greatly stimulate the titanium dioxide market effect is very limited, in the international market increment is unlikely to continue to increase significantly, the future market competition of titanium dioxide is inevitable.

Peng Anzheng, chairman of the titanium dioxide industry technology innovation strategic alliance, stressed the importance of innovation and development of new quality productivity, economic innovation and development innovation. She pointed out that under the blessing of raw materials and regions, although it provides unique favorable conditions for the development of the titanium dioxide industry, it also requires everyone to brainstorm, exchange and cooperation, and ultimately achieve the healthy and sustainable development of the industry.

Professor Yan Naiqiang, doctoral supervisor of the School of Environment of Shanghai Jiaotong University, made a technical report at the meeting and expounded his unique views on achieving the goal of better healthy and stable development of titanium dioxide enterprises. In view of how to carry out efficient resource treatment of rotary kiln tail gas, acid hydrolysis tail gas and other waste gas produced in the production process of titanium dioxide, the corresponding technical process and equipment were shared, which helped the technological progress of titanium dioxide enterprises and escorted the industry's energy conservation and environmental protection.
